DoD 5220.22-M
Data Erasure Software

Achieve DoD 5220.22-M compliance for media sanitization. WipeCert supports legacy multi-pass overwrite standards while providing modern cryptographic certification.

How WipeCert meets DoD 5220.22-M

While NIST 800-88 is the modern standard, many organizations still require DoD 5220.22-M compliance for legacy systems. WipeCert supports both, providing the technical controls and documentation needed to demonstrate compliance.

Multi-Pass Overwrite

WipeCert supports the classic DoD 5220.22-M 3-pass and 7-pass overwrite standards for legacy magnetic media (HDDs).

Audit-Ready Certificates

Every successful wipe generates a detailed certificate containing the device serial number, drive model, operator ID, timestamp, and exact erasure method used.

Cryptographic Verification

Certificates are signed using Ed25519 cryptography. Auditors can scan the QR code on any certificate to verify its authenticity directly against our public ledger.

Verification & Validation

DoD 5220.22-M requires verification that the erasure was successful. WipeCert automatically performs post-wipe sector verification to guarantee data destruction.
